Final Days in Cadiz

Today was our final day in the classroom, and Friday is our last day in Cadiz. It will be, for all of us, hard to leave this place.

Tomorrow we head to Aqualand, a water park in El Puerto de Santa Maria, and Friday we will have a day to take advantage of whatever we have all wished to do this month in Cadiz and have failed to accomplish. Saturday morning, we are off to Córdoba!

In recent days, more students have been participating in volunteer work with Madre Coraje, a local organization dedicated to providing clothes, food, and medicine to those in need. We have, of course, been finishing our classes as well, visiting the cathedral and the market, and generally staying busy.

On Monday, in order to have time before we lost our 3-week students, we had our annual meal at El Balandro (the fanciest and best restaurant in town) and stuffed ourselves silly on an amazing prix-fixe meal.

More soon. Off to bed.

Surfing!

Jerez

Fun days lately. A great (and very southern Spainly hot) visit to Jerez, to tour the old city and visit the zoo, an amazing flamenco show, and a lovely lazy Sunday (for most of us). We are heading into our last week here, and it is with excitement and a bit of sadness that we look forward to our final days here in this beautiful city.

Sevilla

Headed in a week to Sevilla, but today some of the 3-week students and I headed out for a lightning visit!

Exercise and Grease

(From July 12: apparently did not publish)

Yesterday we got lots of exercise at a beautful natural park in the Bay of Cadiz. We had a great time biking and kayaking, swimming, and hanging around looking at crabs.

We followed up all that exercise and fresh air with a bunch of delicious pizza last night and churros (fried dough) with thick hot chocolate this morning.

Today is a very relaxed day. After the churros, we have some free time and a visit to an archeological site this afternoon. Tomorrow is already the beginning of the 3rd week!

More soon!

Today: SURFING

We head out to new Cadiz today for surf lessons, continuing our non-stop journey through all things good in Cadiz. In recent days, our students have visited the aforementioned Torre Tavira, gone to a street market with their classes, visited the Cadiz Museum, enjoyed the beach, and eaten great meals. We have also seen some flamenco in the streets and a dance and music performance at an 18th Century fortress.

The next few days promise to be even more fun. We will surf today, eat tapas tomorrow night, visit Jerez on Saturday, and see a flamenco show on Saturday night.

More soon.
